Meet wall putty, a primer that complements the home’s wall paint

What is wall putty?

A type of wall putty

Acrylic putty can also be an option, especially if you want the final paint color to be a color matte classy. Compared to cement putty, acrylic putty has a smoother surface and dries quickly. Acrylic putty is also suitable for new or old walls, concrete surfaces or cement plaster surfaces. With excellent bonding power, acrylic putty can be used for interior or exterior painting. How to make wall putty
Generally, wall putty is easily found at hardware stores. However, you can make the wall putty yourself with three ingredients, namely construction calcium powder (calcium carbonate), plamir glue or wood glue, and water.
Mix the calcium powder with water until you have a paste that is not too thick like a paste, but also not too runny to easily stick to the walls. Then add plamir glue or wood glue to the mixture in a ratio of 3:1, i.e. add 1 part of plamir glue to 3 parts of dissolved calcium. Alternatively, calcium powder can be replaced with white cement. However, the results of homemade wall putty with white cement will not be as good as the results of wall putty based on calcium powder.
How to glue a wall
There are two main steps in sealing the walls, namely cleaning the walls and applying putty. For brand new walls, a process is still added with a waiting period for the walls to be ready for painting. It will usually take you at least 2 weeks before you start smoothing, the longer the better.
Before plastering, the wall should be cleaned of all impurities, including dust, traces of paint, oil stains and the like. You can use sandpaper for cleaning. If there is mold or mildew, clean it first with a wire brush. Then clean the wall surface again with a soft cloth before starting the sealing process.
Apply putty evenly on the cleaned wall surface. The tool used is mostly scrap or putty. Apply the putty evenly vertically from top to bottom. In this process there is also a step of sealing cracked or uneven walls. How to glue a cracked wall is quite simple, you just need to fill the problem wall with putty and level it with a spatula.
After applying evenly on the wall, leave the putty to dry for 30 minutes to 3 hours, depending on the type of putty.
